About Us

The Practice

We are currently operating out of a fully equipped and staffed temporary building at Quantrelle Court. Negotiations are on-going with Bellway Homes to provide a move to a permanent and much larger. The new purpose built surgery will be situated in the centre of the development overlooking the square and next to the school.

Our Commitment to You:

  • Patients will be treated confidentially and with courtesy
  • Health Promotion is our aim
  • We will keep you informed of the services we offer
  • Any suggestions to improve services will be considered

Charter for GP & Patients

Your doctor will always do his best for you. But he needs your help to provide the best care for all patients. Please show your support by following these simple guidelines.

  • Please treat your doctor and his staff as you would expect to be treated by them; with politeness and respect.
  • Please cancel appointments that you cannot attend or no longer need; somebody else is always waiting.
  • Please think twice before calling a doctor to your home. Is a visit really necessary?
  • Please do not expect a prescription every time you visit the surgery; good advice is often the best.
  • Please remember that you can find basic health information elsewhere e.g. your local pharmacist and NHS Choices.
  • Please request your repeat prescriptions in good time; this will help avoid delays.
  • Please remember that doctors are only human; they cannot solve all your problems and some illnesses cannot be cured.
  • If you have a genuine complaint, please contact the Practice Manager first. This is the quickest way to solve any problems.

Named GP for all patients

NHS England require all GP practice's to notify their patients (including children) that they have been allocated a named, accountable GP.  This is a requirement that every practice needs to have met by 31st March 2016, and that this practice is meeting now by including this information on our website (information added 7th August 2015).

Every patient at this practice is assigned to one of the GP partners / salaried GPs.  However this assignment in no way affects your choice of GP that you may prefer to see, or who may be available at a time that you prefer.  It is important to be clear that you do not need to wait and only see your named GP.

Practices are asked to inform patients of this at the first appropriate interaction, so the GP or Nurse may advise you of this at your next appointment.  We are not required to write to patients to advise them of this, and this information on our website fulfils this contractual requirement.

GP Earnings

The average pay for GPs working for six months or more in Shortstown Surgery, in the last financial year, was £45,744 before tax and National Insurance.  This is for 1 full time, 5 part time and 3 locum GPs.
